Call of Cthulhu

Realm of Shadows (January 2013 to present)

Masks of Nyarlathotep (September 2009 to February 2011, 52 episodes + 4 diaries)

I had the opportunity to incorporate material from the upcoming Masks of Nyarlathotep Companion, so I jumped at the chance. I'd always wanted to run this campaign, and it was listening to another group (The Bradford Players) playing this campaign that motivated me to form the Gaming Grunts. I wish we could try to recover after the last episode (the Companion offers several possibilities), but it's not likely.

Day of the Beast (April 2008 to March 2009, 40 episodes + 8 diaries)

I found a copy of this out-of-print campaign at my Friendly Local Game Store, so I grabbed it immediately. The campaign has come under some criticism about motivations and a "monster of the week" feel, but my players liked the monsters (and I fiddled a little bit with motivations).

The Haunting (April 2008, 2 episodes)

This was the first audio recorded by the Gaming Grunts. It's a classic Call of Cthulhu scenario straight out of the rule book.

HeroQuest 2

Sartar: The Colymar Campaign (June 2012 to November 2012, 20 episodes + post-game discussion)

I was VERY happy to be back in Glorantha (where I'd played for so many years in one of Sandy Petersen's campaigns). I was worried about overloading the players with background, but they did a great job. This was my first time running the HeroQuest 2 system; hopefully I didn't make too many mistakes.

Serenity

Serenity (November 2011 to May 2012, 12 episodes)

This campaign was a little odd. The second serial of Adventure! was winding down, and after asking the players what they wanted to do next, this setting was chosen kind of as the last resort. I did have an overall plot arc, but I handled getting the characters into it too "realistically", and that meant the players were flailing a bit at the start. With the departure of several of the key players, this campaign is not going to resume. I ultimately wanted the characters to have to decide whether to allow a civil war to break out again.

Adventure! Tales of the Aeon Society

Serial 2 (May 2011 to July 2011, 13 episodes)

The inspiration for this setting came to me as an image in my brain and set me off writing a LOT of the mythology. I did steal the Mahars name and powers from "At the Earth's Core" (but not their look) -- I think everything else is "original". If I wasn't such a lousy artist, I'd try to draw that image.

Serial 1 (April 2009 to September 2009, 14 episodes plus 1 diary)

I listened to the Bradford Role-Playing Society playing this game system and decided to purchase the PDF of the rules (from DriveThruRPG). If you watched American TV in the late 60s and early-to-mid 70s, you should be able to figure out what show I based the PC's organization on.
